 The painting is about cleaning plates, eating everything on the plate. Nature provides us with all kind of food. A good way to show gratitude is to clean the plate, eat everything on the plate.

「完食」が絵のテーマです。人間はいろんな食べ物の恵みを天然自然から得ています。食事を完食することが感謝の表現になると思います。

The 75th autumn, 75回目の秋

 The title of the painting is "The 75th autumn". For so many years, this season has entertained me. Hope more of that will come. 絵の題名は「75回目の秋」。長年に渡り、秋は私を楽しませてくれました。これからも続きますように。

Storing green for the next spring, 来春のために緑を保管

About the coloring of leaves in Autumn. I read somewhere that green pigment would be withdrawn from the leaves when Autumn comes. This painting is inspired by the idea. 秋の紅葉について。どこかで読んだのですが、秋になると葉の緑色素が無くなり、赤や黄の色素が残るそうです。その考えを膨らませてこの絵を描きました。

The title of this painting is "Wind is a special treat". It was a very very hot summer, and the cool wind is a Gochiso (special treat). Thanks wind.

絵の題名は「風がご馳走」。この夏はとっても暑い日々が続きましたね。涼しい風がご馳走でした。風に感謝。

Kokoro no Tomo, 心の友

 Mayumi Itsuwa is popular in Japan as well as in some parts of South Asia, especially Indonesia. One of her songs called "Kokoro no Tomo"(friend of heart) became a big hit in Indonesia when the country was devastated by the earthquake and tsunami years ago. The song kept people's mind spirited and helped the country reconstruct itself. I got inspired by the song and its effect on Indonesian people, and this painting is based on the inspiration.

Sky Cafe, スカイ・カフェ

The title is "Sky Cafe". I wanted to pick a subject befitting this soothing season of May. タイトル「スカイ・カフェ」。この爽やかな五月にふさわしいテーマで描いてみました。

 

Models of husband and wife, 夫婦のひな型

From "the Story of Creation". "Looking carefully through the muddy ocean, the Creator saw a fish and a serpent amid many loaches. Planning to make them into models of husband and wife, the Creator summoned them,,,", 元始まりの話より「創造主がどろ海の中を見澄ますと、沢山のどぢょうの中に、うを（魚）と巳（み）が混じっている。夫婦のひな形にしようと先ずこれを引き寄せた、、」

 

Joyous Prayer Service / 陽気つとめ

 Title "Joyous Prayer Service". Since the old, old time, humans have offered song and dance to God to show our appreciation. In Tenrikyo Church, too, special song and dance are in its prayer. This painting depicts the prayer service.タイトル「陽気つとめ」。古来より人々は歌と踊りで神への感謝を伝えてきました。天理教でも、特別な歌と踊りで祈ります。この絵はそれを表現しています。

Smile everywhere. どこにも笑顔

The title is "Smile everywhere". There are much unhappiness in the world, but originally, when the Creator began this world, the Creator's intention was to see humans leading joyous life. This painting depicts the intention of the Creator. タイトルは「どこにも笑顔」。この世にはハッピーでは無いことが多くありますが、そもそも創造主が人間と世界を創った意図は、人間の陽気ぐらしを見て楽しみたい、ということです。この絵ではその意図を描いてみました。

Petals meet stars

Sakura flowers petals are falling on the ground, slowly loosing their luminous colors. I am sad to see such a state of the petals so I decided to let the petals fly into the sky and be together with stars. 桜の花びらが地面に落ちています。だんだん色褪せていく姿が可哀想です。そこで、花びらが空に向かい星と一緒になる絵を描きました。

 

Mountains sing / 山唄う

 Among many Kigo(season words) of Spring is "mountains laugh". In my painting, I started out depicting it, but then in the process, I decided to try "mountains sing", which is not Kigo, but this is a painting, not a haiku, so I do not mind. 多くある春の季語の中に、「山笑う」があります。それを絵にしてみようと案を練り始めましたが、途中で「山唄う」を作画してみることにしました。これは季語ではありませんが、句ではなく絵を描くので、まあいいかと思います。

Feb. and March Days

 I tried to depict my days in Feb. and March, taking care of my wife on wheel chair. 車椅子の妻を世話する私の2月、3月の日々を絵にして見ました。できるだけ日参するようにしています。

Sharing joy

Originally, God created people to see the Joyous Life of people and , thus, to share in that joy. 神は、人々が陽気ぐらしをするのを見て共に楽しみたいとの思いから人間を創られた。

 

Opening ceremony

 I attended the opening ceremony of the new church. I am happy that my paintings fit well with the atmosphere there. 浮孔分教会の神殿新築奉告祭に参列してきました。私が担当した襖絵が場の雰囲気に合っていて良かったです。

Becoming gentle-hearted, 優しい心になりてくる

 This painting "Becoming gentle-hearted" is inspired by Mikagurauta song, "Forgetting away a cruel heart, Come to Me with a gentle heart". A guy is jumping out from a crust with many thorns, like chestnuts. The thorned crust is a symbol of a cruel heart. 題名は「優しい心になりてくる」。「みかぐらうた」の五下り目、六　「むごいこころをうちわすれ、やさしいこころになりてこい」が発想の元です。絵では、男の人がトゲトゲの栗のイガのようなところから飛びてています。手には優しい心を掲げて。

Seeds sown all sprout, 蒔いたる種はみな生える

 Title "Seeds sown all sprout". 題名：蒔いたる種は皆生える。The painting is based on a sacred song called Mikagurauta. From its chapter 7, the 8th stanza, "As this Residence is the field of God, Every seed sown will sprout". この絵の発想の元は、「みかぐらうた」七下り目、八のの歌です。「やしきは神のでんぢやで、まいたるたねはみなはえる」
