A sad news hit me today; Satoru Abe, a great artist in Hawaii, passed away. I will paint something in tribute to him, but for now I post my haiga+haibun about him. I made it several years ago. 悲しい知らせが今日届きました。ハワイ在住の偉大な芸術家、サトル・アベ氏の訃報です。彼のためにこれから何か描くと思いますが、今日は、以前に制作した俳画と俳文を掲載します。
I’m sorry to hear about your friend passing. I really love this haibun that honors him. It feels like a dream. There is something about haibun that I really enjoy, but I am only starting to discover it as it is not as widespread as haiku. The haiku feel like little jewels after reading the prose. I enjoyed the other haibun I found on your site, too. I bet they would be a wonderful collection for a book.
