Connected byFate 縁がある

日々の暮らしには折々興味深いことが起こる。　今日はそんな日だった。いつものように自転車で買い物に出かけた。明るい青空とひんやりとした空気に誘われていつもより遠回りした。その途中で葬式に出会った。亡くなった方の名前に驚いた。以前、私の海外係時代に長く付き合った方だった。その彼の名をたまたま見つけた。末期の癌で亡くなったとのこと。私もこの一年半の間に３度の癌の手術をした。　この偶然。縁があるというのはこういうことだ。 Interesting things happen from time to time in everyday life.　Today was one of those days. I went out shopping by bike as usual. Lured by the bright blue sky and the crisp, cool air, I took a longer route than usual. Along the way, I came across a funeral procession. I was surprised by the name of the deceased. He was someone I had known for a long time back when I worked in the international division. I heard he had passed away from terminal cancer. I, too, have undergone three cancer surgeries over the past year and a half. What a coincidence. This is what it means to be connected by fate.
